Sefton NHS trust are just one of the organisations who will have a stall at the event.
The Atkinson will be hosting a special event on health and wellbeing as part of Choices for Living, in partnership between The Atkinson, Sefton Carers, NHS and Sefton Council.
The event being held at The Atkinson begins at 10am and runs until 3pm and includes a full a public back-stage tour of the venue from 11am, Creative Alternatives workshop activities in The Art Box from 12pm, Sefton Opera Band from 12.30pm, a drama performance from Smile at 1.30pm and guided walks with Sefton Active Walks from 2pm.
The Mayor of Sefton will be attending the event to celebrate the achievements and the opportunities that such partnerships create for Sefton residents.
Emma Anderson, The Atkinson’s Director will welcome the visitors and partners from 12pm and highlight The Atkinson’s role and ambitions to become a wellbeing hub for Sefton.
Organisations with a stall at the event include: The Atkinson, Public Health, Merseycare, Healthy Lifestyles, Healthwatch Advocacy, ISIS Sexual Health, Southport & Ormskirk NHS Trust, Medicines Management, Brighter Living Partnership, Creative Alternatives, SMILE Drama, Sefton Opera, Parent Carer Team, McMillan Cancer Care, Active Walks, Inclusion Matters, Access Community Services, Bridge Inn Farm.
The events are aimed at providing customers of day care services in Sefton the chance to see the range of opportunities there are available from a wide range of support services. These services can offer health advice or cultural and leisure activities designed to promote wellbeing and social engagement.
The Choices for Living week begins on Monday 29 September until Monday 6 October and brings together community information and events for people living with disabilities. The programme of events takes place at May Logan Centre Bootle, Dunes Splashworld, Living Well Centre, Southport.
The Choices for Living programme also includes information stands, networking opportunities and practical arts and physical activity workshops from Monday 29 September to Wednesday 6 October and will take place at the and The Atkinson in Southport.
The health and wellbeing theme continues at The Atkinson from Monday 6 – Friday 10 October with its first Festival of Wellbeing. Over five days, there will be dozens of free activities and events for both the public and healthcare professionals.
Cllr Paul Cummins Sefton Council’s Cabinet Member for Older People and Health said: “The Festival of Wellbeing is a fantastic way of highlighting The Atkinson as a wellbeing hub for the North of Sefton. The event is aimed at everyone including carers, the public, healthcare organisations and local businesses.
“The Atkinson is the natural place to hold this event in Southport as it is home to Sefton’s award winning arts on prescription service – Creative Alternatives and hosts activities and displays from health and wellbeing organisations including Mersey Care, Alzheimer’s Society, Public Health, CVS, Age Concern and Homestart.”
Keep active, sociable and creative is the take-home message from a five-day-long wellbeing festival at The Atkinson, being held to coincide with World Mental Health Day (Friday 10 October).
