Volunteers from The Library in the Gardens and the Fire Fighters washed the cars, a van and even a motorhome. We were very ably helped by two volunteers from Catch 22, NCS (National Citizen Service) who worked their socks off. One from Ainsdale and one from Orrell Park. We are really grateful to Catch 22 for their help as we are committed to supporting the wider community in our activities.

Whilst we are currently constituted as a small charity we are well on our way to raising the £5,000 we need to register with the Charities Commission. This will make fundraising more effective by allowing us to work with more organisations and obtain discounts only available to registered charities. It is also necessary to be a Registered Charity so we can apply for Lottery Funding to cover the cost of upgrading and refurbishing the Bowls Pavilion in Botanic Gardens. This will cost approximately £100,000. At the end of 2014 we were awarded £25,000 by Sefton Council from the Community Support Fund on the Proviso we can raise the balance, £75,000, ourselves. Work on this is progressing well.

Our next event is a Blind Wine Tasting at West Lancs Yacht Club on Friday 22nd May at 7.30. There are 5 wines to taste and identify as well as a fun quiz and a platter of cheeses, pates, chutneys with bread and crackers. It promises to be a great night. There will be a raffle with some fantastic prizes as well as auction lots including an Everton FC package and Coronation Street package with items donated by EFC and ITV. Thank you very much to them. If anyone wants more information contact Helen on helenmaloney@hotmail.co.uk or look on our facebook page New Churchtown Library.
