CCTV smashing teens chased away from car park

A fed up resident of Scarisbrick Avenue in Southport has said enough is enough after he had to yet again chase off a group of youngsters who were throwing stones at CCTV cameras on the Promenade car park.

He contacted OTS News after the fifth night running, he claimed, that teens had been gathering in the car park and smoking marijuana and throwing pebbles and small stones at CCTV cameras near to a pay and display machine, seemingly for fun.

“I don’t know why they bother to be honest, as the camera hasn’t worked in years and it’s just a deterrent.

“But they keep doing it and those stones could easily hit someone else or one of those cars.

“It’s not the only problem we have though – people from the nightclubs are always coming down there and throwing up or having sex because they don’t think anyone can see them.
