A driver is lucky to be alive this morning after their car was all but destroyed in a horrific accident in Southport.
A car and a transit van collided in wet weather at the junction of Cemetery Road and Portland Street near to the Texaco garage shortly after 8am.
The car was written off in the accident with the force of the impact being so severe it set off two passenger airbags and crumpled both passenger side doors.
Police and paramedics are understood to have been called to the collision and the debris has been moved out of the way to allow traffic to continue to move.
