Byng House Southport World War One Parade. Advance Notice of Event

The Royal British Legion Byng House are pleased to announce that as part of the World War One Commemorations we will be hosting a World War One Parade on Sunday 10th August, in Southport Town Centre,  commencing at 11:30hrs.

The Parade will commence from Byng House at 11:30hrs and will consist of  the Lead Civic Dignitaries Car, Royal British Legion Standard Bearers, Southport Sea Cadet Band, 156 (North West) Army Regiment, selected military vehicles, followed by the Royal British Legion Byng House Bus. The Parade route will be starting from Byng House, making its way along the Promenade turning left at the Royal Clifton Hotel onto Coronation Walk, turning left at the bottom of Coronation Walk onto Lord Street. The Parade will then continue along Lord Street, turning left at the Cenotaph onto Neville Street and continuing back to Byng House.

At the end of the Parade a short wreath laying service will be held, with local dignitaries and the Deputy Lieutenant of Merseyside, Colonel Martin Amlôt will take the salute.

This event is open to the public and we would appeal to all members of Southport and the wider community to come out and line the route for this event as a mark of respect for the fallen from World War One, many of which were from Merseyside.
