Merseyside Police is appealing for information after a burglary at a charity shop in Southport last week.

At some time between 5.30pm on Thursday, 7 April and 9.00am on the morning of Friday, 8 April, unknown offenders forced the front door of Queenscourt Hospice Charity Shop on Cambridge Road, Southport. The safe and a quantity of cash inside were taken from the premises.

Enquiries are ongoing in relation to forensics and to identify any possible CCTV coverage.

Southport Neighbourhood Sergeant Steve Stuart said: “Any theft is unacceptable but to steal from a charity’s takings is hard to comprehend. We are keen to hear from anyone who may have heard or seen anything suspicious on Cambridge Road during Thursday night or Friday morning, especially any persons or vehicles in the vicinity of the shop. Any detail, however small, could prove vital in our investigation.”

Members of the community with any further information are encouraged to speak with officers in the area, their dedicated neighbourhood team on 0151 777 3442, or call 101. Anyone with information who does not wish to speak with us directly can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
