British Transport Police officers have released the CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to after a train guard was threatened.
The incident happened shortly after 12.30pm on Tuesday, 8 January, between Moorfields and Sandhills rail stations.
PC Shaun Lee said: “A man boarded the train at Moorfields and was spoken to by the guard.
“The man then threatened the guard, causing him to retreat into the cab.
“Despite this, the man continued his aggression and kicked the door of the cab several times before getting off the train at Sandhills and running away.”
PC Lee added: “This behaviour is completely unacceptable and the guard, who was simply trying to do his job, has every right to do so without fear of violence or aggression.
“Enquiries have identified the man in the CCTV and it is vital that we speak to him as soon as possible as I believe he has key information about the incident.”
If you have information about the incident, or recognise the man in the CCTV, please call British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111. In all calls please quote background log B6/NWA of 17/1/13.
