An amateur mechanic got the shock of his life after a cable mixup set two cars alight.
The man was trying to jumpstart a car on a driveway in Roe Lane shortly before 1pm this afternoon but failed to heed basic mechanical advice and mixed up his jump leads.
The error soon came back to haunt him as the surge of electricity caused both cars to short and an electrical fire broke out in both cars.
Although not thought to be severe, fire crews were called to use special foam to extinguish the electrical fire.
They spoke with the man about the dangers of home mechanics and urged him to call out a qualified engineer to fix the issue before it got worse.
