Southport v Macclesfield

Southport will be looking to move out of the relegation zone when they host Macclesfield in Blue Square Bet Premier action on Boxing Day.

The Sandgrounders are currently fourth from bottom having collected 24 points from 21 games. Manager Liam Watson has revealed he intends to strengthen his side with new signings.

Steve Akrigg and Aaron Chalmers are both injured and won’t play any part in Wednesday’s clash.

Meanwhile, the Silkmen are better off in ninth postion, with 32 points from 22 games and will be looking to build on their three-match unbeaten run.

Boss Steve King is sweating over the fitness of Andre Da Costa, who is facing a race against time to be fit as he recovers from a broken foot.

Town are just four points off the play-off places and know that a win at Haig Avenue will go a long way in securing their dream of promotion.

King has loaned midfielder Harry Agombar to Ryman League Division One North outfit Grays Athletic so he will obviously be unavailable.
