Boxer braves audience assault in the name of charity

A Southport boxer turned referee got more than he bargained for after being attacked by angry ringside fans.

But luckily for Jon Lund it was all in the name of charity as the Southport star willingly opened up the floor to a bout or two.

Jon was refereeing a card at an event in Scotland when a number of boxers dropped out.

Instead of cancelling the show, Jon suggested in good nature that members of the audience could instead have a full minute to unleash their amateur boxing fury on him as referee.

Jon said “I was at At a show in Scotland on Saturday but due to a few pullouts they only had a few fights on.

“So as I was working as ring hire & referee I suggested the MC announced does anyone want to smack the referee for charity. 4 of the audience paid up and all had 60 seconds swinging for me.”
