Bottlenose Dolphin washed up on Ainsdale Beach

A large bottlenose dolphin has been found washed up dead on the beach.

Local resident, Rob Berry came across the five foot dolphin carcass this morning on a stretch of sand between Freshfield and Ainsdale beach.

The dead mammal was badly bloated and beginning to show signs of decomposition.

A marine expert told OTS News:

‘It is becoming more common for dolphins to be washed ashore after getting confused by boat sonar in the Liverpool channel.”
