Booze-fuelled driver busted after crashing his Mini in Southport

Police were called to Scarisbrick New Road, Southport following a 999 call 2pm this afternoon, Sunday 8 May 2016.

A man driving a grey Mini Cooper lost control of his car whilst exiting Kew roundabout. The Mini Cooper S smashed down a road sign and came a halt after hitting the metal fence. Fortunately no one was injured.

A witness said: “Other divers who witnessed the crash stopped to help the guy prior to him running off. It’s good job they followed him and the police could bag him!”

The driver was arrested at the scene after he failing a roadside breath test. He was later taken to Southport’s nearest custody suite in Liverpool.
