Report on the disgraceful event by Cllr Haydn Preece…
Tonight’s Planning: Labour en mass and a Tory vote for build on George Drive/ Elizabeth Ave
Cllr Lynne Thompson called in the Planning application backed by a petition (initiated by Pat Regan) of 423.
Cllr Preece stated at Planning tonight the report reads “as if officers feel they can just about build and therefore we can. A great deal of doubt existed in this report.”
Cllr Preece “moved to refuse” this application due to environmental issues including the loss of trees, flooding concerns, conservation for water voles and wildlife in general.
The Council ignored their own Tree Department who were against the George Drive/ Elizabeth Drive 10 dwellings and eight self contained apartments.
Labour at Planning en masse and the one Tory on Planning ignored the environmental/ecology concerns. Considering even the Planning officers stated in their report “the arguments are very finely balanced and the loss of trees would be significant” it has astounded Cllr Thompson how easily this controversial application was passed.
Cllr Preece asked for the Planning Committee clerk to record the voting so Ainsdale Ward residents can see in posterity who voted for this destruction of a valued wild life area.
Cllr Thompson concluded ” Tonight’s decision sets in Sefton in my view a very worrying precedent for any green policy, safeguarding our environment nurturing wildlife.”
This is an outrage against the Ainsdale Community and Nature…
The Bootle Mafia has gone too far this time and let Southport down big style – time to name and shame these odious, nature-hating, politicians…
Southport’s green spaces MUST be defended against these pernicious, environmentally – bankrupt fools!
Talk of appeal is in the air!
