Bones discovered on Southport beach

Bones have been discovered on the north of the pier on Southport beach, Friday 13 May 2016.

A Merseyside police spokesperson said: “Work is now being undertaken to establish if the bones are animal or human,” but added that the bones are likely to belong to an animal.

A member of the public reported the discovery of the bones to police officers at around 11.15pm last night.

Forensics teams were on the beach this afternoon (Friday, May 13)
