Merseyside Police have confirmed that the body of a man has been recovered from Marine Lake this evening.
Emergency Services were called at approximately 6.45pm following eyewitness reports of a body in the lake.
Members of the pubic are being asked to avoid the area while investigations continue.
Merseyside Police said: “We can confirm officers are in Southport today, Tuesday 10 September. Emergency services were contacted just after 6.45pm following reports that the body of a man had been discovered in the lake.
“The man was removed and he was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene. Enquiries are ongoing to identify the man and notify his next of kin. The area around the lake is currently cordoned off and we ask people to avoid the area.”
