Biggest ever housing plan set for Crowland Street

More than 680 homes could be built in Southport, one of the largest developments the area has ever seen.

Homes England owns the majority of the site, which is earmarked for development into 678 homes under Sefton’s local plan.

The plot, located south of Crowland Street around two miles from Southport town centre, is the single largest housing allocation in the local plan, which was adopted in 2017.

The allocation also features the former Kew park and ride facility off Foul Lane, owned by Sefton Council.

Homes England bought the site from Anwyl Homes last year and has now awarded Tetra Tech a contract valued at close to £500,000 to carry out site surveys and pull together an outline planning application for the scheme.

According to housing publication Place North West, a comprehensive planning application is expected to be submitted to Sefton Council later this year.
