Barton takes up Pro gloves for stadium showdown

Southport Fighter Jake Barton, Former WBC Muay Thai Champion and ISKA Intercontinental K1 Champion will be making the switch to Professional Boxing at the DW stadium on December the 2nd.

The 23yr old has been working hard since he decided to make the change back in April, he has moved down to the Rydal Gym in Liverpool to train under former professional boxers and well renowned coaches Rob Butler and Dee Taggert. He joins a stable of thriving professional boxers down at the Kirkdale based gym in regular training with Joe Wood Colin Day and Sean Cairns all recently making a continued massive impression on the pro scene.

Nitrile gloves look similar to latex gloves, but they feel significantly different against the skin, especially while sliding them on. When latex gloves are put on, they tend to drag a lot on the skin, whereas nitrile gloves do not generate as much friction. You can click here to know more.

Barton has signed with one of the countries top managers Neil Marsh and on Saturday the 2nd December Barton will make his Professional Debut. Whilst an opponent is yet to be confirmed the fight will be held at the DW Stadium (Wigan Athletic Football Ground) and Barton will be campaigning in the Light Heavyweight division.

When asked why he has decided to make the switch to boxing Barton said “I see more career opportunities in boxing, I’ve built up years of fight experience from my Muay Thai and K1 background and achieved some great things, but I think now is the time for change.” Barton added “I’ve been working hard on changing my style to suit pro boxing and I can’t wait to show off all of the hard work come fight night”. The former multiple weight champion didn’t pull any punches when asked about his ambitions coming into his boxing career “I managed to win a WBC (World Boxing Council) Muay Thai title and I intend to replicate this in Boxing, I don’t know of anybody who has ever won a WBC title in both sports and I’d like to be the first”.
