Banks St.Stephens Sports & Social Bowling Section

During the summer months pupils from Banks St Stephens CE Primary School have been enjoying the game of Crown Green Bowls with Members of Banks St Stephens Sports & Social Club Bowls Section.

This was largely brought about by a grant awarded by Skipton Building Society’s ‘Grass Roots Giving Scheme’ enabling the Bowls Section to purchase a number of sets of junior sized crown green bowls.

The Bowls Section organised a competition to see how the children had progressed with the game over the ensuing weeks.

Will Wareing scored the most points during the games, and was declared the inaugural winner.

All pupils received a medal from the Chairman of the Bowls Section, Stuart Atkinson, and will be presented with Certificates of Participation.

The Chairman said that it had been a great privilege for members of the Bowls Section to help the children appreciate the game of Crown Green Bowls, and it was to be hoped that this would provide the initiative for the pupils to take up the game later in life.

The next event on the calendar for the Bowls Section is for the Grand Open Day to be held at the Club in Hoole Lane on Sunday 17th August, when it is hoped members will be joined by novices and experienced bowlers to try their hand at Bowling.  The event will run from 11.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m., and will include a raffle together with refreshments. All will be made welcome
