Councillor declares war on Southport’s dirty drains A councillor has declared war on Southport’s blocked and flooded drains in a bid to improve town centre roads and footpaths. Cllr David Barton, who represents Dukes Ward, has provided Sefton Council with a list of sites along Lord Street in need of attention to prevent them causing problems this winter. Local sexual Health Centre now closed Sefton Sexual Health, run by Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust, based at Bootle Health Centre, will finish on Thursday 20 October 2016. From 20 October, Sefton Sexual Health will no longer be based at Bootle Health Centre. The Centre hosted the PACE (pregnancy and contraception education) under 25’s service and it is unlikely new arrangements will be in place by this date. Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust has installed the cutting-edge equipment at its Dermatology unit in Ormskirk. The walk-in cabinets emit UVB rays which help patients with skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema. Coastal Communities Fund Sefton Council plans to submit a £2.7m Stage 1 bid, as part of the Coastal Communities Fund (CCF), to help revitalise Southport Pier and Seafront.
