Merseyside Police can confirm officers have been in attendance on Norwood Road, Southport, today, Friday 18th March. A member of the public contacted police after they were concerned by something they saw lying in the road. Alongside members of the medical profession, officers have examined a photograph taken by this member of the public, which they now believe to be a doll. However, officers attended and have made a thorough examination of the scene, spoken to numerous witnesses and conducted house to house enquiries. Merseyside Police has issued video footage of a ‘near miss’ collision on the M57 as a warning to drivers to pay attention to the road during bad weather. The footage shows the moment a roads policing constable, part of the North West Motorway Policing Group (NWMPG), was forced to jump out of the way to avoid being hit by a car which had spun out of control in poor weather on the M57, sliding sideways onto the hard shoulder before hitting a parked vehicle.
