A teacher turned author from Southport is set to release her 50th book!

Joanne Leyland, 45, a qualified teacher with almost 20 years experience teaching foreign languages to children, already has a range of books offering youngsters the chance to learn languages including French, Spanish, German, and English as a foreign language.

She has released activity books, stories, photo-copiable games, Christmas special editions and holiday phrase books with challenges – and her latest book teaches Italian!

She said: “I have always loved learning lan- guages myself and I hope that my books will inspire others to learn languages.

“It can make such a difference if you can communicate in another language. Even saying thank you in a foreign language can put a smile on someone’s face. I have also taught in a number of schools in Southport and Formby.

“For six years, I was employed by Greenbank High School’s Language College to go into a number of primary schools to teach year six pupils either French or Spanish.
“I have also taught at St Philip’s CofE Primary School in Southport, Ainsdale CofE Primary School, Shoreside Primary School in Ainsdale and St Jerome’s Catholic Primary School in Formby.

“I went to Ainsdale CofE as a child then Greenbank High School, so it was nice to go back and work for both of them as a teacher. Now I split my week writing books, and teaching in Liverpool but I still live in Southport.”

Young Cool Kids Learn Italian is aimed at 5- 7 year olds and is available online at Amazon, eBay and Waterstones, from September 30
