Police have arrested two people in relation to a suspected kidnapping attempt after a man was assaulted in Southport over the weekend.
The victim, in his forties, was allegedly assaulted inside a block of flats on Ash Street in Southport on Sunday.
When police arrived on scene they found him suffering non-life threatening injuries with witnesses reporting two men had allegedly gained entry into the flat.
Officers swung into action and following a detailed investigation a car containing two men was stopped on the M6 by road traffic police.
A 34-year-old man and a 31-year-old female from Warrington were arrested in connection with a suspected kidnap.
They remain in police custody for questioning.
