ASDA Southport to shut on day of Queen’s funeral

14th September 2022

The Southport ASDA store will be shut throughout the daytime of the Queen’s funeral.

All online deliveries for the day have also been rearranged.

Bosses at the Central 12 superstore say they won’t be open as a mark of respect for the vast majority of Monday September 19th.

Anyone who is in need of shopping or essentials on that day is told they’ll have to wait until 5pm when doors will open.

The store will then close again at 10pm as part of a nationwide move by the supermarket chain to show respect to the Monarch.

An ASDA spokesperson said “As a mark of respect for Her Majesty’s passing, and to give our colleagues and customers the opportunity to commemorate her funeral, we will be closing all our stores on Monday 19th September until 5pm.

We will re-open our stores from 5pm until 10pm on Monday 19th September to allow those customers who need to shop with us to do so. You can check the local store locator page for your local store opening times.

We will not be offering online deliveries onMonday 19th September and are contacting any customers who already have slots booked for the 19th to rearrange their delivery to the prior or following day. “
