The Veterans Fund will holding an Armed Forces Day parade and event on Lord Street this Summer on Sunday 28th June.

The parade will start at 10.30 from Chapel Street then though to the gardens in front of the Town Hall and Atkinson Centre, where the free event will be held.

There will be Armed Forces stands, vintage military vehicles, ex service associations and charity stalls, military history stand. Music from a George Formby Band and Hesketh Silver band. With a WW2 Spitfire fly past ( weather permitting )

This event is an opportunity to do two things. Firstly’ to raise public awareness of the contribution made to our Country by those who serve and have served in Her Majesty’s Armed Forces. Secondly it gives the nation an opportunity to show your support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving troops to service families and from veterans to cadets. The Fund are currently looking for volunteers to help out with marshalling the parade and event including anyone who has spare time to help through out the year.
