To mark Apprenticeships Week earlier this month, Sefton Council’s Sefton@Work team held a number of events to give 16-24 year-olds in the borough more information about apprenticeships, jobs and training in different sectors.

The events were very successful with over 300 local young people coming along to find out more about apprenticeships and the other services offered by Sefton@Work.

Local companies from across Sefton delivered information sessions about working in their business or sector, including Barclays, Santander, Merseytravel, Eco Environments, the NHS, Sovini, Cargill, Ramada, Sefton Council, the Armed forces, 1st Steps and Evans Marine.

Marks & Spencer in Bootle also hosted two information sessions at their premises to tell local people about working for them, how to apply for jobs and what makes for a successful job application.

Claire Maguire from Sefton@work said: “These events in Southport and in Bootle were a huge success and let young people know about the range of opportunities that are available for them here in Sefton.”

Kerry Beirne from the Sovini Group added: “We thought that the event went really well, it was well organised and the attendance was great. It was a really good opportunity for people to find all about the opportunities within our business. It was really worthwhile.”

All the events were supported by the Sefton Learning Provider Network, Career Connect, the DWP and partners.
