Appeal after woman attacked in Blundellsands

Merseyside - A Crime Alert for the residents of North Sefton from Merseyside Police

POLICE are appealing for information following an incident in Blundellsands, Thursday 14 March.

At around 3.45pm, a call was received reporting a man attempting to assault a woman on the coastal path near to Crosby Leisure Centre and Endsleigh Road. The man was reported to have grabbed the victim and made threats of a sexual nature.

She received a minor injury to the throat but was able to run off and call police. She is being supported by specialist officers while enquiries continue.

The suspect is described as black, around 25 years old, 5ft 10in tall, slim build, with freckles, with curly short hair and wearing a high-visibility jacket with a blue band around the bottom, and dark coloured jogging bottoms.

Detective Inspector Tony O’Brien said: “This was an extremely alarming incident which has left the victim understandably distressed, but thankfully uninjured.

“We are urgently looking for the man described and would urge anyone who has seen him in the Crosby or Blundellsands areas, including possible sightings in Mariners Road and at Hall Road and Blundellsands and Crosby Train Stations.

“We will be carrying out extensive CCTV and door-to-door enquiries and patrols will be in the area. We need to speak to any witnesses so if you saw or heard anything, or have home CCTV or dashcam of a man matching his description, let us know and we will take action. Incidents like this are rare and we are determined to apprehend the man as soon as possible.”
