Appeal for witnesses following fatal collision on M65

OFFICERS are appealing for witnesses after a man died following a collision on the M65 last night.

The incident happened at around 8.10pm on Friday 13 February on the M65 westbound, about one mile past junction 10.

The black BMW car is thought to have veered into the central reservation before turning over and coming to rest on its roof a couple of hundred metres down the carriageway.

Paramedics attended but sadly the 44 year old man from Barrowford was pronounced dead at the scene.

Road closures were in place for about four hours following the incident.

“This is a difficult time for the family and friends of the motorist, who are being supported by specially trained officers.”

“Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is urged to contact us with any information they may have that could help us to establish exactly what happened and to help us with our enquiries.

“I’m also keen to speak to anyone that may have seen the black BMW in the area prior to the collision.”
