Appeal for information after robbery at Formby store

By On The Spot News29th June 2016

Appeal for information after robbery at Formby store

Merseyside Police is appealing for information following a robbery at a store in Formby last night, Tuesday 28 June.

Officers were called to the One Stop Community store on Cross Green at 10.50pm following reports that two males, wearing balaclavas, had entered the store and gone behind the counter where they stole a quantity of cash. It is believed the men may have been armed with weapons.

The two men then got into a white VW Golf, which had tinted windows and alloy wheels and was being driven by a third man, and made off towards Duke Street car park.

CCTV and forensic opportunities are being explored and an investigation is ongoing.

Formby neighbourhood Inspector Jim Atherton said: “We will do everything possible to bring these offenders to justice.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity of Cross Green and saw anyone acting suspiciously, recognises the description of the car or has any information which could help with our enquiries to get in touch.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Merseyside Police on 0151 777 3055 or the confidential Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.
