POLICE are appealing for information after a motorcyclist was seriously injured near Ormskirk this afternoon.

Police were called by the ambulance service at around 4:20pm this afternoon to Liverpool Road, Bickerstaffe to reports that a motorcyclist had collided with a telegraph pole.

The rider of the motorcycle who is a man in his early 20’s has been taken through to Aintree hospital in a serious condition and is currently receiving treatment. Liverpool Road is currently closed between the junction of Liverpool Road with Bowkers Green Lane and down to Cunscough Lane for accident investigation to take place.

Officers investigating are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed anything to come forward and contact them.

Sgt Finn Quainton from the Road Policing Unit said, “We are currently trying to establish the circumstances around what has happened and so I would appeal to anyone who may have been in the area either at the time or running up to the incident to come forward.

“The collision has occurred just near to the Mossock Hall Golf Club on Liverpool Road and I would appeal to anyone who may have been nearby at the time or who may have seen anything prior to the collision to contact us if they have not done so already.”
