Another night of violence at the Southport Musical Firework Championships

For the second year Merseyside police are following a number separate incidents of assault during the Southport Musical Firework Championships last, Saturday 1 October 2016.

One parent, Rupert Paton has warned parents ahead of the final nights display, he said: “I would like warn any parents allowing their children to go to the fireworks by themselves later on – think twice as my 15 year-old son was attacked by a gang of lads last night, completely unprovoked.”

“They are coming into Southport for one purpose only, to fight and pick on innocent people who are simply just wanting enjoy the fireworks.”

“Thankfully Joseph is okay with a few minor swellings and shock, but I would hate it to happen to anyone else’s son or daughter”.
