Anger over New Year’s Day parking fines in Southport as wardens issue tickets
PARKING wardens (Civil Enforcement Officers) in Southport have been criticised for penalising drivers who left their cars overnight on New Year’s Eve.
Dozens of drinkers who left their vehicles in the town centre found their new year off to a shaky start after being hit with £60 parking fines.
Many who stayed overnight in local hotels were also penalised early this morning.
A local licensee said: “I’d certainly be outraged if I was trying to stay on the right side of the law by not drink-driving and I got a ticket.
