After operating an amusement arcade in the front of their Lord Street Hotel (Scarisbrick) and keeping the Council’s Planning Department strung along in negotiations trying to avoid enforcement action, the owners of the Scarisbrick Hotel have finally decided to submit a retrospective planning application to allow them to do what they have already been doing for an entire summer season.
Town Centre Lib Dem Councillor Tony Dawson is calling upon all members of the public who are unhappy with this proposal to allow this sort of activity to occur right at the heart of Southport’s prime shopping street – and in the middle of a conservation area – to make their views known.
Cllr Dawson says:
“This behaviour by the owners of the hotel is unfortunately within the law and the Council say that they have tried to get the owners to comply over this time. It is pretty scandalous. Now is the time when the people of the town can have their say.”
