ALLEGED ATTEMPTED CHILD ABDUCTION BRACKEN WAY, FORMBY

Merseyside Police can confirm an investigation is underway following an alleged attempted child abduction this evening (Sunday, 20 January) in Formby.

At about 5.30pm a 10-year-old was walking along Bracken Way when a vehicle pulled up nearby. The male driver of the vehicle offered the boy a lift and asked him to get into his vehicle. The boy refused and ran home. The matter was subsequently reported to the police.

Patrols attended and a search of the area is underway.

House-to-house enquiries have been undertaken and an investigation into the full circumstances of the incident is ongoing.

The car the man was driving is described as being a black BMW 3 Series.

Although uninjured the boy has been left shaken following the incident.

DI John Williams, said:”We are treating this report very seriously and are very keen for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or anyone with information to contact us immediately.”
