Merseyside Police has today welcomed the sentencing of a pensioner for historical sex offences.
Graham Walker, 74, of Halifax Road, Ainsdale, was found guilty of six offences of indecent assault involving two juvenile males in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
Today, Friday 1st June, he was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment at Liverpool Crown Court. He was also placed on the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years and was fined £2500 court costs.
Speaking after the case, Detective Inspector Tony O’Brien said: “Walker’s victims showed courage to come forward and report these crimes and have shown immense resilience during the trial.
“I hope that today’s sentencing is able to give them some sense of closure and allow them to finally move on with their lives.
“I would like to remind people that time should never be a barrier to obtaining justice and that anyone who has been a victim of a sexual offence should come forward safe in the knowledge that they will be supported by specially trained officers from Merseyside Police’s Unity team.”
