Ainsdale beach closed to cars AGAIN!

Sefton Council has again closed Ainsdale beach to vehicles despite hundreds of people wanting to use it today, Sunday 26 March.

The Council first decided to close the beach parking for six months last winter – stating it would not be able to manage the beach with reduced ranger numbers.

A  Council spokespersons quoted: ” The beach remains fully open for visitors but there will be no public parking on the beach during the winter.

“We decided to close beach parking last year due to continued budget reductions by Central Government.

“During the summer we evaluated the decision and it was agreed that the car park would close during winter 2016 as the cost savings associated with the decision can be used to protect other services.”

When will it open again?

Beach parking will return in April/May to Sept 2017 and visitors can buy a beach parking season ticket for the summer season which is valid for parking at Ainsdale Beach Car Park, Southport Beach Car Park and Formby Lifeboat Road Car Park.
