Ainsdale Beach clean-up see the “A Team” in action

Labour community activists in Ainsdale have been busy clearing pathways and rubbish from in and around the beachfront lake near The Sands pub.

Ainsdale’s Labour candidate in the forthcoming local elections in May, Frank Hanley, led the team which collected piles of plastic rubbish and other debris strewn around the area.
The ward’s Labour “A-Team” members also lopped back branches and brambles blocking paths and entrances while bin-bags were filled with plastic, paper, crisp packets, takeaway cartons, bottles and tins before being collected and removed.
Labour candidate Frank Hanley, who lives locally, explained:
“The team have been out several times now and one of the worst aspects of this trip was seeing so many sliced-bread bags being removed from the lake. It’s baffling that people in their kindness go and feed the ducks but then leave the plastic bags which, of course, can become a danger to the very birds they are feeding.”
“Small boxes of appropriate bird seed are probably a wiser choice for the birds and would help keep the area tidy. At any rate, I’d appeal to everyone who uses the beautiful beach and surrounding area that we have here in Ainsdale to take their litter home if bins are full.”
