£908,741 Collected at Southport Hospital car park between 2014/2015

Over 12 months £908,741 was taken and £718,530 from Ormskirk Hospital totaling £1,626,241 between the two Southport’s NHS hospitals between 2014/15.

These figures were revealed following a Freedom of Information by the Press Association to trusts all over the UK.

Southport and Ormskirk Hospital Chief executive, Ann Marr quoted: “Money raised from car parking charges at the Trust goes towards the cost of maintaining the car parks, with any surplus going directly to patient care”.

A number of staff based at Southport Hospital reported being stung up to £400 per year to park at the hospital. Staff starting parking in KGV College on Scarisbrick New Road which consequently made a Pay & Display Car Park.
