Planned roadworks in the North West– summary for Monday 7 to Sunday 13 August 2017

Smoother journeys for commuters and other users of the M62 around Warrington in Cheshire are on the way.

Highways England is spending £900,000 to completely resurface the westbound carriageway of the motorway between junction 11 at Birchwood and junction 10 at Croft Interchange where the M62 meets the M6.

Highways England project manager John Lyssejko said:

We’ll be completely resurfacing the carriageway between the two junctions to give drivers safer, smoother and more reliable journeys – getting rid of potholes by planning off the old surface, resurfacing and also installing new road studs and road markings.

All the work, which started on Tuesday (28 July) is being done overnight between 10pm and 5am using single or two lane closures. However, the westbound carriageway will be totally closed nightly for up to ten nights – during week nights only – from Monday 10 August. A clearly-signed diversion will be in place with drivers sent onto the southbound A574 Birchwood Way towards Birchwood and onto the roundabout with Woolston Grange Avenue – following this southbound to re-join the motorway network at junction 21A of the M6.

The project is due to be completed by Friday 21 August.
