Police appeal after a 22-year-old man was assaulted in Ormskirk.

We are appealing for information after a 22-year-old man was assaulted in Ormskirk.

The incident occurred at around 8am on May 14th, on the car park opposite Ormskirk Civic Hall at the junction of Hants Lane, Southport Road and Green Lane.

The victim was walking with his girlfriend when two men alighted a nearby car and approached them. The men then began a nasty assault on the victim, who suffered a broken nose, broken cheekbone and fractured eye socket.

He was taken to Southport Hospital for surgery and is now recovering at home.

We are now appealing for information about the incident and would like to speak to anyone who saw what happened, or knows who may be responsible.

DS Andy Langton, of Skelmersdale Police, said: “This was a nasty and unprovoked attack and we are determined to find the people responsible.

“If you were in the area at the time and saw the incident or saw anything which seemed suspicious, we would like to hear from you as soon as possible. Similarly, if you know who the offenders may be or have heard anyone talking about this attack since, please let us know.”

Both offenders are described as white men, around 5ft 11ins tall.

One is further described as aged around 40, of large build and with short hair. He wore a white top and spoke with a Liverpool accent.

The second offender is described as tanned, slightly younger than the first offender, of stocky build, with short, dark hair. He was wearing a t-shirt and shorts.

Anybody with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting log number 1260 of May 14th.
