The Grasshopper Rocks the Boat

On Thursday 1st June the Grasshopper Micropub in Sandon Road, Hillside, intends to ‘Rock the Boat’. Dave Barker the head brewer from Rock the Boat brewery in Little Crosby will be coming along and introducing some of his fine ales. There will be a nautical theme to the evening with all visitors being offered a ration of rum or grog and Rock the Boat ales. People coming dressed as a pirate will also be offered another free ration of rum.

There will also be a sea-faring theme for the food with a ‘Pirate Stew’. Angie, the landlady, said ‘We have found an old recipe for Pirate Stew and we think it is quite authentic. It features a lot of seafood that the sailors would have had to rely on – it is a bit like a chowder’.

Later in the evening Pete Rimmer and friends from the Southport Bothy will lead a few sea shanties to really get the place rocking.

Tickets are limited and are available at the bar priced at £6 in advance (to cover a glass of rum, 3 half pint glasses of Rock the Boat ales and a bowl of pirate stew)
