Six cyclists from Southport will this weekend take on the gruelling 160 mile Coast2Coast challenge this weekend to raise awareness and funds for two charities. The cyclists will be taking on the hills over Clitheroe, Skipton and Harrogate. Then over to York and finally to the destination of Scarborough. The two day event has been organised by Southport Businessman Ashley Moran and he says ‘this event has taken months to plan and is finally here, we have all been training hard through the winter and we are all ready to take it on’

The two charities the lads are raising awareness and money for are little Hearts Matter and Sarcoma UK.

The weekend event has been sponsored by Southport Business Gas Monitor Point, specialists in personal gas detection and safety equipment. Paul Kimberley, managing director of Gas Monitor Point came to the aid of the group after a Facebook post was noticed a few months ago.

The cyclists set off from Southport Town Hall this Saturday (9th May) at 09:30, and the cyclists would like you all to come and wave them off, Ashley says ‘We would love to have everyone and anyone to come give us a cheer when we set off, it would give the riders a massive boost at the start which is what we need’.
