    UPDATE: Man attending ‘BangFace’ Southport music festival has died

    Merseyside Police can confirm the 25-year-old man who collapsed at ‘BangFace’ a three-day music festival held at Pontins last week died yesterday (Sunday, March 29). 

    Police were called to Pontins in Ainsdale on Friday, March 20 just before 2pm after they were informed by the Southport and Formby District Hospital that a 25-year-old man had been admitted to hospital after being found collapsed.

    It is understood the 25-year-old was attending Bangface, a three-day music festival held there over the weekend.

    He was transferred to another hospital where he remained in a critical condition.

    The man died in hospital yesterday morning, Sunday 29 March.

    Next-of-kin have been informed.

    A post-mortem has been carried out the results of which have been withheld pending toxicology reports.

    An investigation into the circumstances of the man’s death is on-going.

    A 25 year old man is in a critical condition after collapsing at “BangFace”, a 3 day music festival which was being held at Pontin’s over this weekend.

    Officers were called to the holiday park on Friday at 1:55pm after they were informed by the Southport and Formby District Hospital that the man had been admitted to hospital after he collapsed. He has since been transferred to Royal Liverpool Hospital where he is still in a critical condition.

    Police presume that the man had consumed alcohol that day. They are not yet sure if any other substance were taken but believe there may have been.

    Detective Inspector Mike Dalton, said: “We believe that the man may have consumed alcohol and possibly taken other substances although we are still establishing what those substances were and whether or not they have contributed in any way towards his current medical condition.”
