2,000 plus runners take on the Southport Half Marathon this weekend 

This coming weekend, Southport will see 2,000 pounding the roads. – including Lord Street, which will close for the first time ever for a running event!

Vital Events, organisers of this spectacle, anticipate record numbers this Sunday (July 3 2016) with over 2,000 runners taking part, and still time for more people to sign up.

The events start from Victoria Park in Southport with the Southport Half Marathon and 10k run starting at 9am, and the Mile Fun Run starting at 9.15am.

It promises to be a superb event for spectators to enjoy too, as thousands of runners fly along the historic Lord Street boulevard.

The first batch of runners are expected to arrive on Lord Street at around 9.05am and they will be streaming through for around 30 minutes.

The cost is: Half Marathon £30 (£28 UKA affiliated); 10k £24 (£22 UKA); Mile Fun Run £9 adults, £7 under-16s.
