2 men arrested after brawling in the street

TWO men have been arrested by armed Merseyside police officers after brawling in the street – with one man even attempting to injure the other with an axe!Fearful members of the public called the police shortly before 5pm on Monday October 24 after two men were spotted fighting on Booth Street.At one point one of the men grabbed hold of an axe and tempted to injure the other with it.

Armed officers quickly swooped on the pair, detaining both of them without further incident.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police told the OTSnews: “We can confirm two men have been arrested following an incident on Booth Street Southport, yesterday afternoon, Monday, 24 October.

“Officers were called at around 4:10pm to a report of a disturbance in the street, members of the public reported one man was sighted with an axe.

“Officers attended and two men, aged 22 years and 36 years, both from the Southport area were arrested on suspicion of Affray.

“Officers also recovered an axe, which will be forensically examined.

“Enquiries are ongoing to piece together the full circumstances of the incidents. CCTV is being examined and witnesses spoken to.
