Nathan Melton, an 18 year old man from an address in Liverpool, was arrested on suspicion of affray in the Botanic Gardens in Southport on Saturday the 2nd of January. This followed a report from a group of local teenagers that the man had made threats towards them in the park.

Three patrols on duty in Southport were deployed to the incident and the 18 year old man was located and arrested. Melton was later charged with possession of an offensive weapon and four counts of attempted robbery.

Shortly after midnight on Monday the 4th January, a report was made of a possible break-in to a commercial vehicle on Fernly Road in Birkdale.

On the arrival of a patrol, two local boys aged 14 and 15 were found in the vehicle, both under the influence of drugs. Both boys were taken home to their parents and will later be interviewed on suspicion of possession of controlled drugs (cannabis) and drug paraphernalia.
