Commuters heading home from Preston on the A59 towards Longton and beyond have been facing hour-long delays due to roadworks.

United Utilities have put temporary traffic lights in place while they work on pipes near the road.

Motorists are reporting delays of up to an hour to go two miles says Blog Preston.

The roadworks are near Bank Bridge between Tarleton and Much Hoole on the A59 and began on Tuesday evening.

South Ribble Police said they had attended the scene in Tarleton and with Lancashire County Council have removed the traffic lights as of 6.51pm on Tuesday.
