WWT Martin Mere hosts North West Bird Watching Festival November 15th, 2013 admin Latest News Latest Whats On Shares Comments WWT Martin Mere Wetland Centre is hosting the North West Bird Watching Festival on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 November. Martin Mere is welcoming back celebrity Urban Birder, David Lindo, on Sunday 23 and 24 November as well as new speaker Dominic Couzens and a host of optical manufacturers including Swarovski, In Focus, Nikon, Marchwood and Viewpoint Optics; making this a fantastic event for everyone who has an interest in bird watching, photography, conservation or simply enjoy nature. Highlights for 2013: A number of free workshops including photography with Martin Birchall (on Saturday) and Ron Thomas (on Sunday), ringing demonstrations, owl pellet dissections and bird identification workshops; Access to the hides from 8am in the morning (usually open at 9.30am) to view the wildlife as the day begins; Guided tours around the reedbed walk and waterfowl gardens; Guest speakers including David Lindo, the celebrity Urban Birder and Dominic Couzens, British birder, author and journalist, as well as Jeff Clarke, Kane Brides and Maxwell Law There is plenty of additional things to do with a range of stands offering holidays, binoculars and second hand books, and swan feeds at 3pm and 3.30pm when up to a thousand wintering waterfowl will come up to feed including Pink-foooted Geese, Whooper Swans, Teal, Pintail, Pochard and Wigeon.
