Wrexham made it five games unbeaten at home with a disappointing 0-0 draw against Southport.

Visiting striker Richard Brodie and Scott Kay brought decent saves out of Wrexham goalkeeper Andy Coughlin in the first half.

But Brodie missed a sitter when he side-footed wide at the back post.

Wrexham threatened eight minutes from the end but Steve Tomassen’s shot from 12 yards was too close to Southport goalkeeper Peter Brezovan.

Wrexham manager Kevin Wilkin told BBC Radio Wales: “We were poor from start to finish. Disappointing.

“The last couple of Saturdays we’ve had some tremendously exciting games and good crowds, and plenty at the end of it.

“Then we go into midweek and… if people are wanting to play for a shirt at the end of the month [in the FA Trophy final]… one or two haven’t done themselves any favours tonight.”
