Woodlands Animal Sanctuary needs your help!

Woodlands Animal Sanctuary based in Holmeswood, Lancashire cares for over 350 animals at any one time. The sanctuary opened in 2005 and has literally helped thousands of animals in that time.

The last twelve months has brought some significant challenges to the team at Woodlands. A huge increase on demand for our services which has been coupled with huge decrease in donations. We are now facing a financial crisis and we are appealing to the public for their help.

The running costs at the shelter are in the region of £3000 per week, every penny we raise goes directly to the running costs of the shelter. We do not receive any government funding. Every penny we have is raised by our exceptionally hardworking fundraising team with fund raising activities, donations from the generous public and our loyal supporters. We would not be where we are today without the hard work of our tireless volunteers and staff who have supported us to this date.

We have an exceptionally hard working, skilled and dedicated team here at Woodlands and with their support we believe we could have a very successful future. We are helping to rehabilitate one of the country’s endangered native species, the hedgehog as well finding loving forever homes for hundreds of unwanted, abandoned and sick cats every year. The sanctuary also cares for rabbits, guinea pigs, and an assortment of farm animals and equines.

The sanctuary has more recently has also been able to support and provide volunteering opportunities to people with mental health issues and special needs. This is work that we would like to continue and believe this is making a real difference to the lives of these people. We would therefore like to continue this work. However unfortunately without sufficient funding this will not be possible.

We really need your support!
