The West Lancashire centre will appear on ITV’s Countrywise on 26th October at 8pm.

Film Crews have been shooting at the centre with a focus on hedgehogs and what the public can do to help protect the species which has drastically reduced in numbers over the past few years.

Vickie Maude who works at the sanctuary said: “We have lots of hedgehogs at the centre, we’ve currently got 76, but we expect this number to increase considerably over the winter. It was great to have the show in to talk about the issue of hedgehog decline more and what can be done to help them. I was personally very nervous when they first started filming, but they were really lovely and made us feel at ease and we ended up having a really great day.”

The drastic reduction in hedgehog number has been attributed to a number of factors including the increased use of pesticides on fruit and vegetables.
